Who is a World Class Poker Player?

Unfortunately. not me. :(

So I played in a poker tournament over in Cocoa Beach this weekend and it was a blast. This was my first ever tournament, and I think I did pretty well. The way it works is there are tons of qualifying games that anyone can play in over several months. The more of these you win, the more chips you start with. Your first win gets you $10,000 in chips, and each additional win gets you another $1000 in chips. I only had one win so I started with the lowest amount you could have. There are three nights of preliminaries, Thursday, Friday and Saturday with the final on Sunday. About 300 people play on each preliminary night. The final is composed of the top 30 or so from each preliminary night. I played on Friday night. It started at 6:00pm and went until 11:00pm. The table I started at there was a guy that had $124,000 in chips! I thought I didn't have a chance. I was wrong. After five hours of poker, I ended the night with $95,000 in chips, and made the cut for Sunday. Sunday we started at 11:00am with about 110 people. The chip leader on Sunday had $504,000 in chips and the short stack had $3000 so I was somewhere in the middle. I did okay for about half an hour or so, but then got knocked out. I went all in with pocket nines and got beat on the flop with a pair of jacks. I played well though and I plan on playing more often.
More details on everything else that's been going on to follow. Hope all is well with everyone. Peas out!

Look who's blogging!!!

Hey everybody, sorry its been so long. I've got a lot to say, so here we go...

After nearly losing my mind, I am finally employed again. Back in May I went back to SWFC to talk to the new Director of Admissions about a new job. He offered me a job in the reception area, with some time training as an Admissions Rep. I accepted, and he told me he would call in a couple days to tell me when I would be starting. After about a week I heard from him that they higher ups decided not to hire anyone until July 1st which is the start of their fiscal year. Last week they called again and asked me to come in to talk again. They just wanted to make sure that I still wanted the job, still starting in July. This morning they called and asked if I could come in to talk again, but asked me to make sure and wear a tie. The Director asked if I could start today! I said heck yes and there you go. I have a job. Decent money, and they agreed to skip the 90 day waiting period for benefits, so those start July 1st.

In other news, I will be playing in a poker tournament this weekend. If I win, I will be going to the World Series of Poker! Wish me luck. I will try to blog more frequently, but right now I gots to sleep.

Peace.
